 Hindus observe many festivals. Among them, Dashain is the greatest festival.  It is usually observed in the month of September. That is, it falls in the month of Aswin or kartik according to Nepali calendar. It is observed for ten days.   Dashain is a festival which is celebrated as a victory of good over evil. This festival encourages us to follow the right path. It is a festival to commemorate Ram's victory over Ravana.   Dashain starts with "Ghatasthapana". This is the first day of Dashain. Since Ghatasthapana, Goddess Durga is worshiped for nine days  and nights. That's why, this period is called "Navaratri". Out of nine days the last four days Saptami,  Durgastami, and vijayadashami are important. the seventh day of dashain is called the S aptami or Fulpati .
